Elanor Leigh Bannon, born in Thunder Bay, Ontario on April 9, 1998, passed away unexpectedly at home on November 5, 2022. Elanor worked at McDonalds on Arthur Street for many years; she was well loved and respected by her many coworkers. Our weekly sharing circles strengthened our family bonds, especially the close relationship between Elanor and Jean. Elanor is survived by her mother Margie Bannon and sibling Jean Bannon. Also survived are her grandmother Lucy Day (Lionel), grandfather Gene Bannon (Linda), uncle Ian James, auntie Lisa Ann (Tara), as well as many cousins and extended family members. She is predeceased by her uncles Nicky Bannon and Thomas Bannon.
A huge thank you to auntie Myria Esquega who provided guidance, strength and support through our four-day sacred fire. Thank you to our many fire keepers, and to all the family, friends, and Fort William First Nation community members who provided support through donations of wood, the protective shelter, food, and coffee. Also, a thank you to the Thunder Mountain Drummers who provided spiritual healing through their drumming.
All are welcome to Elanor’s celebration of life through a traditional ceremony, which will be held at the house of Margie Bannon (8 Quarry Road, Fort William First Nation) on Saturday, November 19, 2022 starting at 11:00 am.
