Elaine Gail ‘Daymiser’ Gilbert, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, passed away peacefully at the Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital, Michigan on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the age of 58. Elaine was the daughter of the late Frank and Virginia (Huff) Thompson. Predeceased by her husband Dereck Gilbert and son Matthew Thompson. Loving mother of Jonathan, Joshua (Deanna) and Daniel (Carolyn). Dear grandmother of Matthew, Tristian, Maddison, Benjamin, Mattic, Scarlet, Miley, Linkin, Alarick, Delilah and Amelia. Sister of Delphine, Murrane, Jake and the late Mark and Louanne. Family and friends are invited for visitation at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg on Tuesday, November 1 from 2 – 8 PM. The funeral will be celebrated at the Walpole Island United Church on Wednesday, November 2 at 1 PM. Interment to follow at Highbanks Cemetery.
