WOOLCOTT: Eileen Wilson (nee Bell) – It is with sadness that the family of Eileen Wilson Woolcott announce her passing, peacefully in her sleep, at the Maples Home for Seniors, Tavistock, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at the age of 101 years.
Eileen was born in Lamont, Alberta on February 2, 1921 to parents John & Eliza Bell and was the last surviving member of her immediate family which included siblings Margaret, Jean, Andrew, Alice and Jessie.
Eileen gave her life to helping others. She graduated from Nurses College in Lamont, Alberta and worked at remote outposts in the North West before traveling east by train in the winter of 1945 when she took a job and the Woodstock General Hospital. Eileen met her husband Earl James Woolcott when he returned from service in the army and they were married on June 7, 1947. Amid travels between Chicago, Illinois and Ontario they had three children James, Barbara and Irene.
Eileen continued her service in healthcare as a Registered Nurse working at Stratford General Hospital (Avon Crest) and Long-Term Care Homes in Embro, London, Woodstock and ended her nursing career as the Director of Care of the Bonnie Brae Nursing Home in Tavistock. In her retirement she continued to care for her family, friends and community. She shared her knowledge and always helped anyone that needed her.
Eileen will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Barbara Wettlaufer (Tim Kelly) and Irene Kaufman (Bob), her grandchildren Debra (Trevor Holtzworth), Darryl Wettlaufer, Craig Wettlaufer, Lisa (Gary Benbow), Laura Kaufman (Matt Wakonig), Karla Van Ness and James Woolcott Rineer, as well as great grandchildren Katelyn Gerber (Jarrett Mogk), Branden Gerber, Lucas Benbow and Charlie & Leanna Van Ness. She will be fondly remembered by extended family Gerry Glazier and Judy Chilvers and children Keith & Lisa Glazier and Kim & Kevin Overholt and families, and by Ron Wettlaufer and Krystal & Tommy Kelly.
She was predeceased by her son James Little Woolcott on January 2, 1982 and her husband Earl James Woolcott on February 4, 1984.
Eileen was born a nurturer and felt it was her duty to take care of everyone. She devoted her life to her family whom all felt her love immensely and she will be deeply missed by all. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Joan Hergott and staff at the Maples Home for Seniors who cared for Mom with Compassion.
Family and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home 77 Woodstock St. N. Tavistock on Friday from 4-7p,m. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 26, 2022 at the Hebron United Church at 11:00am, Reception will follow. Interment will follow in Chesterfield Cemetery.
