GOUIN, Edwidge
It is with profound sadness that the family of Edwidge Gouin announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the age of 93 years.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years; Jacques in 2020; her first born son, Robert, in 2012, as well as her ten siblings. Grandma will be lovingly remembered by her children; Michel (Jutta), Marc, Gerald (Diana); daughter-in-law, Debbie; grandchildren: Emmanuel (Tracy), Danielle, Amber, Matthew, Megan, Elise and Nicole; great-grandchildren; Oceanna, Dakotah and Austyn; her brother Henri (Jean) Paulhus; and sisters-in-law, Florence Paulhus and Therese Aubin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Edwidge was born in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan on June 25, 1928 daughter of Ferdinand and Alice (Boyer) Paulhus. She spent her childhood years on the family farm in Batoche. As a young woman, she moved on to Prince Albert, where she worked as the pastry chef at the Holy Family Hospital. It was while visiting her cousin in Winnipeg that she was introduced to the love of her life, Jacques. They married May 24, 1951 and very soon thereafter moved to Edmonton to start their family of four. Edwidge was a very devoted Christian. Included in her dedication to her Church, she spent over 25 years leading our Lady of Seven Sorrows Prayer Group at the Assumption Parish.
Our Mom and Grandma was the matriarch of our family, a devoted homemaker and most deserving of all our love. She enjoyed singing, especially hymns, and her pastime of playing cards. She composed and wrote her daily journal in prose and poetry, which included the love of her God, Mother Mary, and her family. Her loving smile, and kind spirit will live on in our hearts forever and always.

A public Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday February 15, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at Connelly-Mckinley Funeral Home (10011 114 St Edmonton.) A Funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day, Wednesday February 16, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (210 Haddow Close Edmonton.) with a reception to follow at the funeral home.
