Edna was born May 13, 1927 in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England. The family immigrated to Canada in 1930. She grew up in the McCauley neighbourhood in Edmonton. Edna married Paul Abele on May 24, 1950 and began their life together first in Bonnie Doon and then in Hardisty/Capilano. Paul and Edna were both active members of St. Michael-Resurrection Catholic parish and lived in their home for over 62 years. They were very lucky to move together to assisted care in Tofield, and then long-term care in Camrose. Edna was thankful for the many blessings in her life, in particular her family, friends and her relationship with her beloved Paul. They had a strong and loving marriage. The family will dearly miss both of them.
The family would like to thank the caregivers, nurses and staff at the Louise Jensen Centre in Camrose, for their kind and compassionate care for Edna. They would also like to thank the staff at the Sunshine Villa in Tofield.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial/celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Edmonton Food Bank.
We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Edna Abele nee Patterson 2022 and hope that their memory may be a source of comfort during this difficult time. Your thoughts and kind words are greatly appreciated.
