Our beautiful Mom, Marjorie Anne Eccles ( nee Monahan), passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 4, 2022.
She was the daughter of the late James and Myrtle Monahan, born July 21st, 1932 in Owen Sound, Ontario. Predeceased by 5 sisters- Lorene, Helen, Fern, Jean and Shirley, and one brother, Ross. She is survived by her beloved sister/ best friend Maisie, of Timmins Ont.
Marjorie grew up on the farm in East Linton. She graduated from Owen Sound Collegiate before attending business college. She lived in Kamloops, B.C. then returned to Ontario to complete her nurses training.
She married Earl Eccles, of Mt. Forest, in 1956 and became part of his large family. They were married for 52 years before his passing in 2008. They had three children, Marilyn ( Gary) of London, Linda ( Scott) of London, and her ” baby” Stephen ( Denise) of Wyevale.
She was a wonderful Grandmother to David ( Tina), Greg ( Lisa), and Dan ( Lindsay) Moore, Laura ( Jake) and James Tuomi, and Tori ( George) and Marissa Eccles.
She was blessed with 6 great grandchildren and two great-great grandkids. Aunt Marj will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. She was everyone’s favourite.
Being a banker’s wife, she supported Earl through their many moves, making each house they lived in a home. They have many friends from the times lived in Brantford, Paris, Mt. Forest, Petrolia and Levack. They retired and settled in Elmvale, Ontario where she volunteered tirelessly at the Elmvale United Church.
Her wonderful sense of humour continued even in her last years as she would joke, and dance down the halls of her retirement home.
We wish to thank the staff at Middle Terrace for their compassionate care and love.
Rest in peace Mom, you will forever be in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lynn-Stone Funeral Home a later date, when we can all be together.
