E. “Jean”‘s Obituary
NICKERSON, Elizabeth Viola “Jean” (Van Amburg)- age 83, of Summerville, passed away at the Villa St-Joseph du Lac on February 18, 2022. Born June 19, 1938 in Arcadia, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Van Amburg) Moffat. She was raised by the late Winnie and Nellie Goodwin and later by the late Peter and Caroline Doucette. She worked at The Royal Store, Reitmans and volunteered at the Yarmouth Hospital Information Desk for several years. Most of her adult years were spent as a homemaker; wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jean will be lovingly remembered for her sparkling laugh, her commitment to keeping a clean house and preparing nutritious meals for her loved ones, her quick and agile mind, her ability to tell the best and most imaginative bedtime stories, and for her cherished and special loving bonds with her children and grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Milledge Nickerson, as well as by sisters Barbie and Carol. She is survived by sons Mike (Heidi), Todd (Gwen), and Tim (Beth), all of Summerville; daughter Shannon (Dave) of Halifax; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Roger, Jerry, David, and Paul, and sisters Winnie, Doris, Phyllis, Marilyn, Donna, Linda, and Brenda. There will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment at the Nickerson Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Villa St. Joseph for the wonderful care that they provided. The family asks that any donations in Jean’s memory be made to the Tusket River Environmental Protection Association or the SPCA.
