Dulari Jagat, fought an incredible fight with pancreatic cancer and passed away peacefully in her sleep on 18th February 2022. Dulari was the beloved wife of Ram, mother to Abhinesh (Leslie) and Rohtesh (Carolyn), Aji to Eric and Sean, and great-grandmother to Austin.
Dulari, a school teacher and basketball player, met and married Ram, an agricultural customs officer and soccer player, in the Fiji Islands in 1958. In 1970 they took the brave step of emigrating to Powell River, Canada. Ram came first, began working at Macmillan Bloedel and bought a house. Dulari followed six months later with their two sons. Here, Dulari began a long career as a Licenced Practical Nurse at Extended Care Wards of the old and then new Powell River General Hospital.
Most important to Dulari were family and friends. Her home was surrounded by flowers, vegetable gardens and fruit trees. Friends and neighbours were always exchanging harvests. Famous for her cooking, there was always room for another at the table. Even during the hard times in the beginning, they shared their fortune by sponsoring other relatives to Canada.
The eldest of a large family, Dulari leaves to mourn her sisters Chandra (Ram Roop), Anita (Mike), Prem (Satish) and her brother Ramendra (Sunita). Dulari was predeased by her parents Guru and Jasoda Charan, and brothers Johnny (Manjula), Vijendra (Neelam), Rajend (Nirbha), Ribend (Kusum) and Satendra (Renuka).
Viewing and funeral service will be held at one o’clock, 24 February 2022 at Stubberfields Funeral Home in Powell River BC. The event will be live streamed through a link available the funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
