Obituary of Douglas Morgan Williams
Williams, Douglas Morgan
It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Douglas Morgan Williams, in his 96th year, has passed away peacefully at his home in Brantford. In his final days, Doug was surrounded by his wife Elizabeth (Libby) and loving family. Doug was born to William and Audrey, and raised in Toronto along with his siblings, Jean and Bill, and in spite of the Depression, enjoyed a rich and bustling upbringing. As a boy, Doug helped his father build a cottage on Toronto Island that stands today. Upon turning eighteen, Doug enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces and was en route to Europe as the war ended. Following the war, Doug distinguished himself at the University of Toronto and became a Professional Engineer specializing in textiles. Doug’s education continued when he was awarded a scholarship to North Carolina State University in Raleigh, where he met Libby, his beautiful and loving wife of sixty-eight years. Doug was truly a part of the greatest generation. Doug’s expertise and insight carried him through a number of management roles in Quebec and Ontario, and all the while he and Libby provided their children with a rich tapestry of humour, experience, and love at home. Doug is survived by his beloved Libby, his five children and their partners, and his six adoring grandchildren. In lieu of a funeral service, and to honour Doug’s wishes, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements entrusted to McCleister Funeral Home, 495 Park Road North, Brantford (519) 758-1553. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at mccleisterfuneralhome.ca
