MacGregor, Dorothy Mae – after a long life, Dorothy passed away peacefully at Country Haven Retirement Home on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the age of 98 years.
Dorothy MacGregor (nee McLaughlin) of Beachburg, loving wife of the late Gordon MacGregor. Mother to Elaine (late Richard), Jean (Ian) and Bill (Christine). Grandmother of Sara & Heather; Dianna & Janet; and Stacy & Ryan. Great-grandmother to Brian & Charlie Mae and Nomi. Daughter of the late Wesley and Margaret McLaughlin (nee Gilmour) of Perretton. Survived by sister Lois (late Lyle) and predeceased by siblings Marvin (Eleanor), Elva (Mac) and Myrna (Bill).
After graduating from Royal Victoria School of Nursing in Renfrew, Dorothy spent her career as a nurse at Pembroke Cottage Hospital. She was a prolific sewer, knitter, crocheter, quilter and gardener. She spent many hours researching and writing the history of Beachburg for the Women’s Institute Tweedsmuir History.
A visitation will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Beachburg on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. followed by a service in the Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Beachburg Union Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church, Beachburg would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke.
