It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Dorothy Joanne Baynes, on October 19, 2022 at the age of 91. Dorothy is now reunited with Nolan, her beloved husband of 61 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul & Margaret Owen and brothers, Stan, Dale and Doug. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her four sons, JP (Lorrette), Doug (Donna), Brian (Marian), Jim (Debbie); 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alberta and Marilyn (Jim), sister-in-law Ruth, brother-in-law Jack, and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy will be missed by many incredible lifelong friends. She was a true friend, cherishing these friendships which she nurtured over the years. She lived life to the fullest. She loved to sing and dance, make crafts, play Double Solitaire, and enjoyed a game of Bridge with friends. When she was with family and friends, she was always up for playing a variety of games.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the many people who cared for Dorothy at Parkwood Court. Your kindness and compassion did not go unnoticed.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:30pm in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Lovingly remembered by me and my family. We lived kitty corner from the Baynes growing up in Prince George and then reunited with them in Victoria. We celebrated with them throughout many memories. It’s with deep sympathy that we say our goodbyes to Dorothy. With Deepest Sympathies, Tami Meikle nee Gaiesky
