Doris Velma Crandall (nee McAllister)
November 16, 2022
July 8, 1936 – November 8, 2022
The family of Velma Crandall is saddened to announce her passing on November 8, 2022, at the age of eighty-six.
Velma was the beloved wife of the late David Crandall. They were married 60 years when David passed away suddenly in November 2019. Velma was the mother of three adored children, Charles, Tracy, and Andrew. Sadly, she was predeceased by her eldest son, Charles, who passed away November 2018.
Doris Velma Crandall was born July 8, 1936, in Sackville, NB to Charles and Doris McAllister. She attended Mt Allison University on a scholarship and played Varsity Basketball before working for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Sackville, Toronto, and later Winnipeg. She married David West Crandall of Dorchester, NB where they raised their family in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Don Swainson) and son Andrew (Wendy Martens). Nannie cherished her four grandchildren, Alexander, Katherine, Molly, and Thomas. Velma was an avid golfer, curler, and swimmer. Val and Dave enjoyed many years of early mornings going to the Civic Centre in St. James to swim laps with the “Turtles” and then enjoying breakfast out with the group. She dedicated volunteer hours to her children’s sports. She was a talented sewer, knitter, crocheter, bridge player and excelled in math and bookkeeping. The cookie jar was always full, fresh bread made and Friday night pizza for the family was simply the best. She had a special love of cats, especially Taffy and Fuji, but also loved the company of her grand dogs and the neighboring bunnies, birds, and deer.
Velma and David spent glorious summers at their cottage in Murray Corner, NB and loved their winter trips to Florida, Texas, and Mexico.
Velma will be buried together with her husband David at Westcock Cemetery in Sackville, Westmorland, NB in 2023.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Doris Velma Crandall nee McAllister July 8 1936 – November 8 2022..
