It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Doris Elizabeth Thompson on January 2,2022 at the age of 93. Doris Thompson was born March 23, 1928 at Elkhorn, Manitoba; second daughter of Arthur and Ida Toder. She leaves to cherish her memory sons Douglas (Linda), Gordon (Heather), and Ronald (Jacquie), grandchildren Jody (David), Laura (Tim), Kristin (Arin), Kaitlin, and five great grandchildren. Doris was educated at Kirkella, Hargrave and Virden, Manitoba. She met her husband Alex Thompson in Virden, Manitoba where they were married May 20, 1950 at St Mary’s Anglican Church. Alex’s career saw the family move to Melville in 1952 and subsequently to Yorkton in 1960. Doris and Alex were blessed with three sons. She was a full time stay at home mom for many years. She was active in the boy’s schooling and was a working member of the Home and School association. She was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Yorkton and an active member of the Canon Hill A.C.W. With Alex she enjoyed social activities including many at the Royal Canadian Legion, the 64 Field Battery Officers’ Mess and the Maple Grove Resort dance club on Round Lake. Doris and Alex (who passed away July 21, 2010) enjoyed an active and lengthy retirement. They enjoyed their cottage in the Qu’Appelle Valley, traveling, (Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, Panama Canal) and visiting their three sons and their families as their careers took them to various locations. Doris’s interests included golfing, dancing, gardening and she was always one to make time for good conversation. Her sons remember her nurturing care and her fantastic desserts. Many remember her infectious laugh. She enjoyed a good chuckle, even at her own expense, and was always a good sport.
Mom will always be in our hearts and minds.
