Doris Mary “Dorey” (Palmer) Foley
Wednesday, October 26, 2022, we lost our Mum, grandmother,
great-grandmother and dearest friend, Doris (Palmer), known by many as
Dorey, who was born in Welsford, Kings Co. on May 6, 1923. She
graduated from the Grace Hospital in Halifax and went onto nurse at
the Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville where she met a
wonderful patient, Reg Foley, who would become her devote husband and
soulmate until his death in
Mum was
an active member of the Centreville Baptist Church, the Evening
Workers Auxiliary (past president), the Good Neighbour Club (past
president), the Women’s Institute, Centreville 50 Plus Club,
Pins and Needles Group, and the Denny Bridge Club. She helped organize
the first Centreville Girl Guide movement and was a member of the
Acadia Acqua-Fit for many years. She volunteered at the Valley
Regional Hospital on various wards for over 10 years, as well as the
Fidelis House for 10 years. She continued baking bread, rolls and
cookies for all those visitors that came for Sunday lunches as well as
all those that she took to. She was even more known for her chocolate
peanut butter balls.
She was
an extremely kind, gentle and gracious lady. She exemplified beauty
and elegance and love without boundaries. She cherished her family
above all else. She was strong in her faith and a real inspiration to
all who knew her.
She is
survived by her three children who all adored her: Rosalind (Craig)
MacMullen, Robert (Cathy) and Davlyn (Robert) Stark, all of
Centreville; grandchildren, Adam Killam, Andrew Morton, Michael
Morton, Robert (Chelsea) Foley, Craig Foley, Julia (Iain Hollis),
Lorianne (Robert Townsend), Graham (Michelle) Stark, Fraser (Rosemary)
Stark, Duncan Stark, Iain (Katherine) Stark; and great-grandchildren,
Madison, MacKenna, Nadia, Brynn, Lydia, Elise, Eben, Jensen, Emily,
Grady, Huxley, Bennett, Logan, Colin, Allyson, Ashley and
She was
predeceased by her husband, Reg Foley; parents, Frank and Matilda
(Evans) Palmer; sister, Verna Ward; brother, Norman Palmer; and
special friend, Jim Borden.
family would like to extend their sincere thanks of appreciation to
the CCA’s, nurses, activity and cleaning staff at Evergreen
for all the love and care shown to Mum. A very special thank you to
Shirley – the best roommate Mum could have ever asked

Cremation has taken place and there
will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a
reception, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, in the
Centreville Baptist Church, Centreville. Reverend Doctor Carol Anne
Janzen officiating. Interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery,
Steam Mill. For those unable to attend, a video webcast of the service
will be available on-line at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Donations in memory may be made to the Centreville Baptist Church.
