CROOK, Doris Mabel (nee Thompson)
Passed peacefully at The Carpenter Hospice on Sunday, August 7th 2022 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late John “Jack” Crook; dear daughter of Albert and Mabel Thompson; loving mother of John (Terri), Brian (Tracey) and Wayne (Shirlea); proud grandmother of Jason, the late Bryan, Kyle (Stella), Michael (Erin), Rachel and Carter; and “GG” to Keith, Holly and Charlotte. Doris is predeceased by her brother the late Claude Thompson and sister the late Marita (late George) Cline.
Doris was born in Atwood, Ontario and grew up on the family farm, and later moved with her family to Burlington. She started working at Canadian Canners at the foot of Brant St. in Burlington, where she met Jack. They married in 1955 and moved into Jack’s childhood home on St. Paul St., where they raised their three boys, and where Doris remained until 2018 when she moved close by to Christopher Terrace Retirement Residence in Burlington. A special thanks to all the staff at Christopher Terrace for all their care and support.
Doris worked for Canadian Tire for over 30 years. She was a proud 68-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch 60, as well as being a past president.
Doris loved music, animals, playing cards, but especially loved spending time with her family. She is now reunited with Jack where they can play cribbage again.
As per Doris’ wishes, a private family burial has taken place at Burlington Memorial Gardens. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations in Doris’ honour to The Carpenter Hospice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
