Tulloch, Doreen (Sergeant) (November 23, 1940 – July 17, 2022) –
Passed away, peacefully, after a courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease, at Cassellholme Nursing Home in North Bay, on Sunday, July 17th, 2022, in her 82nd year. Doreen was born in Gilford, Ireland, the youngest daughter of the late Lewis Sergeant and late Mary (Richardson) Sergeant. The family immigrated to Canada on the RMS Aquitania settling in Tillsonburg, Ontario. Doreen was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Tillsonburg. Doreen also lived in North Bay Parry Sound District. Doreen enjoyed her years as the owner/operator of the Bay Brewing Centre in North Bay, as well as her years as a waitress. Doreen loved and found great peace working in the outdoors. Above all else, Doreen was a compassionate, selfless family supporter- she loved endlessly: her children, grandchildren, extended family, and in-laws. Doreen could often be seen proudly and loudly, cheering on her grandchildren and their friends, travelling all over Northern and Southern Ontario through their sporting careers and life accomplishments. (Often times with a very noisy cowbell, much to the chagrin of her loved ones).
Doreen was the devoted and honoured mother and mother-in-law of: “Jamie” (Sally) Tulloch, of North Bay. Janette (Don Winters), of Tillsonburg. Proud and loving grandmother to: Stephen Tulloch of Tillsonburg; Jim Tulloch (Morgan Monk) of North Bay; Jarrod Winters, of Tillsonburg; Krystin Winters, of Tillsonburg. Treasured great grandmother to James, Isaac and Sebastian Tulloch.
Doreen was predeceased by her much-loved siblings: May Sergeant, Robert and Fay (Cupples) Sergeant, Winnifred and Frank Watts, Madge and Sam Kennedy. Father and mother in-law; James and Margaret(Moir) Tulloch and niece Laurie Sergeant-Ashford.
Doreen is survived by husband James Tulloch Sr., of North Bay and cherished in-law family members Peter and Margaret Tulloch, Heather and Bill Hoddy, and David Tulloch.
Doreen also leaves behind greatly loved nieces, nephews, Debbie Watts- Crooker, Brian Watts (Linda), Christine Watts (John), Judy DeGroote (George), Michael Watts, Robert{Bobby} Watts (Laurie), John Sergeant (Rhonda), Carolyn Boughner (Randy), Richard Sergeant, Scott Hoddy (Callie), Crystal Hoddy-Brear (Rick), Andrea Tulloch (Dave) and Liam Hoddy (Jennifer). Many, more loved great and great-great -nieces, nephews and cousins.
All who knew Doreen are invited to attend a public visitation on Saturday, August 20th, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc., 262 Broadway, Tillsonburg. A public memorial service to celebrate Doreen’s life will be conducted on Saturday, August 20th, 2022, at 4:00pm in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Tillsonburg, by Rev. Father Osita Oluigbo, of St. John’s Anglican Church. Cremation has taken place, Interment at a later date. Family, relatives and friends are invited to share special memories, send flowers, letters of condolence, or contribute memorial donations to the “Alzheimer Society of Oxford” or to the “Canadian Cancer Society” via Doreen’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J.
