Doreen Ellen Hobson
July 9, 1935 – December 14, 2022
With overwhelming sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom.
Predeceased by parents Ferdinand and Wanda Schultz, sisters Audrey Madden and Fern Pelton, husband Stephen R Hobson (Dick), first born grandson Ricky Hobson (at 20 months) and youngest grandson Adam Hobson (at 37 yrs).
Survived by sons Bruce (Donna), Steve (Arlene), Ferdy (Eilene [ET]), and daughter Maureen (Jim), grandkids Mike Hobson (Alanna), Amy Webb (Craig), Kirsty Parent (Chris), Erin Mitchell and great grandkids Taleya, Tanner, Tynan, and Taylin.
Mom was born in Edmonton but grew up and attended school in Wildwood, AB. In her early teens the family moved to Clearwater BC where she met and married our Dad, Dick. Many happy years were spent in Clearwater before work curtailments forced a move to Valemount. From Valemount they briefly returned to Clearwater then to Nanaimo and finally Ladysmith. The Island was a wonderful place to live, work, explore and retire but Clearwater held a special place in Mom’s heart. Together with family we will spread some of her ashes there.
Family, describes Mom best and we grew up with a big one; complemented by a large extended family of friends where ever we lived. She was a fantastic cook and over the years hosted many family get-togethers. It was the place to be. Many of these get-togethers involved sing-alongs with mom leading the way on piano or playing guitar. Her other favorite things were gardening, camping, boating, singing in a local choir, following all the events us kids and grandkids were involved in, her little dog Rusty, and did I mention GRANDKIDS.
