Obituary
It is with tremendous heartbreak, sadness and shock we announce the sudden passing, on Friday, November 25, 2022, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, of our devoted wife, mother, sister, auntie, nan, granny and friend, Doreen Dobbin (nee Locey), of St. Joseph’s, St. Mary’s Bay, aged 72 years.
Pre-deceased by her grandson Zachary Dobbin (August 1, 2022), parents Charles & Blanche Locey and siblings: James Locey, Michael Locey and Joanie Locey.
Leaving to mourn her husband of 51 years Ralph Dobbin, daughter Joanie Dobbin- Cave (Butch), son Ralph Dobbin Jr. (Vanessa); grandchildren: Taralynn, Logan, and Mackenzie; great-grandchildren: Aurora, Ian, and Scarlett; siblings Jane Schmutz (Fred), Susanne Casselman (Albert) and Curtis Locey and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, especially Donna and Scott whom there are not enough words to express how much you being by our sides means to us.
Mom was a force to be reckoned with. She was known for her strength, quick wits and her fierce love and loyalty to family and friends. She left a strong mark on her community, touching hundreds of lives while working as a fisherwoman, plant worker, supervisor, bus driver, cook, baker, landscaper, painter, and caretaker. Mom was always happy for a visit, holding court at the kitchen table, teasing us when we were being silly, giving good advice when we needed it (and even when we didn’t need it) and always with a mischievous grin and twinkle in her eye. Her example will help us all to carry on – for we still don’t dare to disappoint her.
A special thank you is extended to the staff of St. Clare’s Hospital, St. Mary’s Pharmacy; and Gibbons’ Ambulance Service, especially Brenda and Nancy, for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation and Burial will be held at a later time. We also ask for your prayers while Dad is recovering from his recent illness.
