Smith, Doreen Anna (nee Elliott) 1929 – 2022
Passed away at the Welland Hospital on Monday, May 9, 2022 at the age of 93. Beloved wife and soul mate of 65 years to Jack.
Loving mother of Stewart (Norma). Cherished grandmother of Leah and Paige.
Dearly missed by her brother Andrew (Marion). Predeceased by her brother Roy(Florence).
Doreen was a primary teacher with the Niagara South Board of Education for 17 years and worked with Special Education Students for a number of years.
Born in Petrolia, Ontario to Ken and Ena Elliott, she moved to Welland as a teacher where she met Jack. Together they bought property in Pelham and, side by side, built a house where they raised a family and lived for 60 years. Doreen was interested in travel and travelled internationally for pleasure and to visit family frequently. She was an avid reader and gardener and devoted many hours to her Church.
In keeping with Doreen’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
A memorial service to honour Doreen’s life will be announced on a later date.
A special thanks to all of the kind and caring folks at Lookout Ridge where Doreen lived happily with Jack for five years.
