Obituary
Donna Mae Pedersen (Smith) of Nanton, Alberta, passed away on March 1st, 2022 at the age of 76, with her family by her side.
Donna was born in High River, Alberta. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Hazel Smith of Nanton, Alberta. Donna is survived by her loving husband Jorgen Pedersen; her three children Charlene (Tim), Carolin (Brad), and Christopher, as well her two grandchildren Jordan and Olivia; her sister Maxine (Ray) Ohler and her brother Duane Smith. Donna is predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence and Norman.
Donna and Jorgen were partners in life and in business and together, with a lot of heart and hard work, they owned successful businesses in Vulcan and Nanton. There was nothing ordinary about Donna (Mom), she was extraordinary in many ways. She wasn’t just a Mom, Wife, Sister, Aunt, Mormor (Grandmother), she was a true friend to many. She was the best listener. She never judged or held grudges. She was grounded and selfless. Donna made people feel welcome and special. Her home was theirs. She loved travelling abroad and in the RV, and golfing with friends and relatives. She was extremely artistic and loved oil painting, crafts, sewing, crocheting, and ceramics. Spring was her favourite season, working in her many gardens, and she loved to feed and watch the wildlife that visit her backyard every day.
Weep not for me though I have gone
Into that gentle night
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul’s sweet flight
I am at peace, my soul’s at rest
There is no need for tears
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years
There is no pain, I suffer not
The fear is now all gone
Put now these things out of your thoughts
In your memory I live on
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death
But celebrate my life
