Donna Frances Doncaster Morrison 1932 2022 avis de deces

Donna Frances (Doncaster)
Morrison
March 10, 1932- March 25,
2022
Whycocomagh
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donna
Frances (Doncaster) Morrison on March 25, 2022, at Victoria County
Memorial Hospital, just two weeks after celebrating her
90th birthday. She was born March 10, 1932 in
Washington, DC, but was raised in Bronx, NY. After finishing school,
she worked as a Secretary at Maxson Corporation Engineering, New York.
This career provided her the opportunity to meet people from all over
the world, which she truly enjoyed, and often spoke of. Although she
lived in New York, she looked forward to spending every summer at her
Uncle Allan’s in Melford, Cape Breton. During one of these
summer visits, she met her soulmate, Donald. On January 21, 1955 they
married in Tremont Presbyterian Church, Bronx, NY. Soon after, they
moved to Iron Mines, Cape Breton. They lived there for several years
and started a family, before building their family home in Whycocomagh
in 1963 where they raised their four children. The door was always
open for family and friends to create many special memories over the
years. Until recent hospitalizations, she enjoyed the comforts of
being in her own home, and we are so grateful she was able to spend
her last Christmas at home.
Mom endured a lot of hardship in her life, losing her husband
and 16-year old son, Brian, within two years, and continuing to raise
their three children and run her husband’s business, D.A
Morrison Welding Ltd. Despite the strugglesshe was faced with, she
made the most of the cards she was dealt (being an avid Auction 45
player). She exhibited such strength and positivity; the pillar of her
family. We will always remember her for her wisdom, knowledge, humor,
vivid memory, kindness, support, and love for her family; all which
she maintained until her last day.
Despite the health complications Mom had in the last few
months, she lived life to the fullest. Nobody loved life
more than Mom/Grammie. “Buy the expensive shoes! Get your hair
done! Go out and have fun!” she would always tell us. She had
many interests over the years, which included; playing Auction,
Solitaire, shopping, keeping up on world events (especially US
Politics), and watching hockey, Judge Judy, Dateline, and World News.
Nothing interested her more than her family, especially her
granddaughters, Breann and Jane, and great grandson, Lachlan. She had
a special bond with each of them, beyond a typical grandmother
relationship, which we are so blessed to have had. She loved hearing
daily updates and watching Lachlan grow.
Mom always put others first, and was always our biggest fan,
celebrating our successes and providing encouragement and comfort
during hard times. There was no better story teller, and nobody that
enjoyed a laugh, long visit, or a cup of tea with just a splash of
milk. Her positivity, perseverance, and zest for life are things we
will try to carry on for her.
She was predeceased by her one true love; Donald Angus (May
3, 1976), son; Brian Angus (September 7, 1978), parents; Mamie Lizzie
(MacPhail) and Roy Leslie Doncaster, brothers; Burton and Richard (New
York), and in-laws; Annie and Gordon Cann, Evelyn and Earle Williams,
Miriam and Bill MacKenzie, Barbara and Norman MacRitchie, John and
Annie Mae Morrison, Alec and Jean Morrison, and George
Morrison.
She is survived by children; Don, Elizabeth (Ian) MacLean,
and Eileen (Dale) MacAulay, all of Whycocomagh; granddaughters Breann
(Wade), and Jane (Brett); and her pride and joy, Great Grandson,
Lachlan William.
She will be dearly missed by her family. A piece of
Mom/Grammie will live on in us forever, which we will be forever
grateful to her for. She would want us all to make the most of
life.
In keeping with mom’s wishes, cremation has taken
place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31 from 2-8 p.m. in
Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral Service will be
held Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew’s
Presbyterian Church, Whycocomagh with Margie MacIntyre LLWL
officiating. Burial to follow at Stewartdale Cemetery.
We would like to thank the staff at VCMH for the
compassionate care they showed Mom over the past few months. In lieu
of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church
or Stewartdale Cemetery Fund. Words of comfort may be forwarded to
