1933 – 2022
Dorothy Donig passed away peacefully October 19, 2022 at the age of eighty-nine, in Teck Pioneer Residence, Kirkland Lake.
She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Clinton Donig (1978), her parents, Ernest and Phoebe (Devolin) Robertson, her brothers Wayne, Garry and Sonny, and her sister, Jean Perrier.
She is survived by her only daughter, Lynn Chappell (Mark) of Fergus,
Granddaughters Hilary Cooper (Andrew) of Panama, Heather Taeger (Ted) of Elmira, and great-grandsons Edgar Taeger, Grant Cooper and Owen Cooper. Born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Dorothy and Clint moved from Kirkland Lake to Larder Lake, Virginiatown, North Virginiatown, and eventually Kearns, where she lived for fifty-five years.
Dorothy can be remembered from her days as a telephone operator in Larder Lake and later as owner, with Clint, of Donig’s Kearns Newstand and the Park Store and Chip Stand at McGarry Lion’s Park on Bear Lake.
Dorothy lived the last five and a half years at Teck Pioneer Residence where she had the care and comfort that she deserved.
Internment is to follow in the Spring of 2023 with a graveside service at the Swastika Cemetery. Details will be posted at a later date.
