It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Donato DiNardo at the age of 93 on September 3, 2022. Beloved husband of Maria (nee Conte) for over 73 years. Loving father of Antoinette (Kirk) Bendig, Joe (Isobel), Aldo (Jennifer). Cherished Grandpa of David, Tina (Tara), Cameron (Leanne), Danny (Stephanie), Kevin, Roman, Mia, Drea and Madison. Will also be missed by great grandchildren Daniella (Brad), Ethan, Amelia, Madison, Alivia, Alex, Darian, Chance and great great grandchildren Salvatore and Viviana. Loving son of the late Maria Donatta and Giuseppe DiNardo. Predeceased by his siblings Georgio (Angelina), Anna (Antonio) D’Ascanio, Antonio (Assunta), Angela (Antonio) Menna, Rosalia (Vittorio) Di Pietrantonio and Agostino (Antoinetta).
Donato was born in Roccomorice, Pescara in Italy where he met and married Maria Conte. He and his family emigrated to Canada in the mid 50’s and eventually settled in Amherstburg. He cherished his family and loved to have everyone over for special gatherings. His homemade wine will always be remembered. He loved to work tirelessly in his garden and enjoy the fruits of his labour. He was a hard working family man who would do just about anything to help all the people in his life. It was a wonderful family event every January to make sausage and every fall to can tomatoes. He worked for many years and retired from SKD in Amherstburg. During his life he did plaster work, cement work and brick work among many other things that needed to be done to help build homes for his family. He loved to go hunting up north every year with his buddies and proudly displayed photos of his trips in his garage where he spent so much time. The family would like to thank Dr Tim O’Callahan, Amy’s Helping Hands and the many others who all helped during his transition.

Visitation Wednesday September 7, 2022 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm with Parish Prayers at 3:30 pm at Families First, 585 Sandwich Street South, Amherstburg, 519-969-5841. Funeral Mass Thursday September 8, 2022 at 11am at St. John the Baptist Church (225 Brock St, Amherstburg, ON N9V 2H3), entombment to follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
