Passed away peacefully on January 31, 2022 at the age of 94.
Beloved husband of 72 years to Denise Lappan (nee Pierre).
Loving father of the late Peter Lappan, late Marc Lappan, Marguerite (Mike) Larocque, Suzette (late Steve) Brunton, Jeanette Ducharme, Donald Lappan Jr., Marie (Jake) Lanoue, Raymond (Cathy) Lappan, Annette (Larry) Ducharme and William (Diane) Lappan. Loving Pépé to 16 grandchildren and Super Pépé to 8 great grandchildren.
Born in Riverside, Don was the son of the late William and Edna (nee Berthiaume) Lappan.
Survived by sisters, Geraldine Rock(late Del), Rita Kurek, Noella Hayes(late Jack), and sister-in-law Lil (late William(Bill) Lappan).
Dear brother of the late Helen and Paul Dufault, late Alvin(Buster) and Mildred Lappan, late Norman(Babe) and Cora(Teeny) Lappan,late Laurent (Peter) and Rose Lappan,late Clarence Lappan, late Eleanor and Charlie Desjardins,late Maurice and Barbara Lappan, late Clifford (Pepper) and Lucy Lappan, late Doris and Omer Jacques,late Germaine and Wilfred Miller and the late Blanche and Michael McDonnell.
Special nephew of the late Raymond and Corrine Lappan and special brother to Charmaine Rau, late Marcie Charbonneau, Sheila Rhodes and late Georgette Griffee .
Treasured son-in-law of the late Robert and Aurore Pierre.Loved brother-in-law of the late Gerard and Mary Anne Pierre, late Marguerite and Theobald(Tic) Cecile and Rose Brothers(late Donald).
Don was born into a large french family. Orphaned at a young age, he was taken into the loving home of uncle Ray and aunt Corrine (Lappan’s Tavern).
Don proudly served our country during WW2 as a member of the Canadian Infantry. After the war, he met the love of his life, Denise and married her in 1949. They settled in the Town of Tecumseh and had 10 children.
Don’s love for his family and his community was a driving force in his life. He was a proud member of Tecumseh’s town council for 33 years, and led as Mayor for 14 years. He was a member of numerous organizations including Ste. Anne’s Parish Usher’s Group, the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Tecumseh Baseball Club and life member (and past president) of the Legion Branch 261. He was most honoured in 2002 when he was a awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee Medal, and also in 2018 when recognized at the Veterans Voices of Canada – Flags of Remembrance ceremony.
Don was proprietor of the family business, Excelsior Monuments. He retired from Chrysler Canada.
Don will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, comrades and dear friends.

Masks and Reservations are required to attend visitation and funeral mass. For those wishing to attend, please call Windsor Chapel (519)253-7234 between the hours of 8am-4pm to book your reservation. A celebration of Don’s life and Funeral Mass will be on Saturday February 5, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Anne Church. Burial to follow at St. Anne Cemetery.
