Wilson, Donald George born in Goderich, ON May 29th, 1930, passed away after a brief illness at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital. Don was the beloved husband of Elsa May (Ferguson) for 70 plus years. He is lovingly remembered by his children Paul & his wife Linda (Eagles), Donna & her husband Robert Kaat, predeceased by his son Peter & his wife Margaret (Giffen) in 1991. He was also predeceased by his parents James Stanley & Grace (Schram), brothers Robert & Gertrude and Gerald (Jim); survived by sister in-law Doris of Lucan. He was much loved by all his grandchildren – Kyle (Jayme), Kristopher, Kari (Tom Foubert), Matthew, Joshua (Lindsay), Kurtis & Elyssa. He relished in the fact he was here to enjoy six great-grandchildren Lauren, Hunter, Ivy, Lou, Braxton & Westin. A special Thank You to Aeryn Wilson who checked in on Dad often for us and brightened his days.
Fondly remembered by his brother & sister in-laws, cousins, and many nieces & nephews on both the Ferguson & Wilson sides, as well as friends and residents of Sunset Suites.
Dad loved following the ‘Boat Nerds’ website to keep track of shipping on the Great Lakes because of his early years with Algoma; if it wasn’t the ships, he was following it was Harness racing. He & Elsa played golf for many years with friends at local courses and instilled their love for the game in their grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Don was always interested in whatever his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were doing.
He was smart, quick-witted, and liked to stir the pot if he could in a kind way. He made you think!

As per Don’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private service will take place at a future date. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital.
