We the family regret to announce the passing of Donald Alexander Matheson on Thursday September 29, 2022, in the Glace Bay General Hospital.
Born in L’Archeveque on September 15, 1938, he was the son of the late Roderick and Kathleen (MacLeod) Matheson.
Donald was proud to be one of the first licensed diesel mechanics in the area working for first R.J Logue and later MacIntyre Chev. Following his retirement Donald spent much of his time building and flying model airplanes. Donald enjoyed spending time in the woods and cultivated his own Christmas trees on his property in Richmond County.
Donald is survived by his daughters Donna (Brian) Sheppard, Sydney and Norma (John) Matheson, Whitney Pier, sons Kenny (Sonia), Montreal and Doug (Denise), Howie Centre, grandchildren Mikayla, Kathleen, Jenna, Breanna, Thor, Hannes, Rory and Rhys, and great granddaughter Sage.
Donald was predeceased by his wife Mary (Brewer), brothers Russell and Kenneth.
Arrangements will be updated on this website in the next few days due to the power outages.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Center at the CBRH or Charity of Choice.
