Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather Donald (Don) Case on November 30, 2022 at the age of 81 years. Don was born on April 15, 1941 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Don’s primary career was as a Journeyman Plumber/Gasfitter. He operated his own business in the Crowsnest Pass for 9 years until accepting a position with the Alberta Government in 1981 as a General Trades Foreman for Southern Alberta headquartered out of Claresholm. With Government cutbacks in early 1994 Don’s position had been abolished and he had to find a new career. He went to college and completed all the courses and became a Plumbing and Gas inspector serving various communities in Alberta until he retired in 2014.
Don was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, boating and snowmobiling. He was a member of Claresholm Fish & Game for many years. Don was also a member of the Lions Club. Don and Bernice volunteered countless hours in the Claresholm community over the years and loved being involved.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Bernice Case, His two children Dale (Cheryl) Case of Okotoks, Laura (Dave) Schneider of Coalhurst, his stepchildren Allen (Jamie) Davidoff of Calgary, Colin (Gina) Davidoff of Calgary, Barry (Shannon) Davidoff of Calgary, Debbie (Late husband Dan) Phoebus of Lethbridge, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Don is also survived by 8 brothers and sisters. Don was predeceased by his first wife Elsie Case, his brother Bob Brown and his son-in-law Dan Phoebus.
Anyone reading this that knew Don and spent any amount of time with him knows he didn’t write his own obituary (too short, lacking details) because his story always involved a coffee, cigarette and a minimum 30 minute chin wag.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at Zentner Funeral Homes – 4079 1st Street West, Claresholm, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Don’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation – 100-119 14 Street NW Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6
