BENO, Donald Barry
June 13 1952 – December 19 2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our loving Dad, Grandpa and Brother. Don passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home.
Don was a supportive, loving and devoted father and is survived by his three daughters, Sarah Beno (David Worlin) of Stoney Creek, Cassandra Hrynyk (Kyle) of Harrison Hot Springs BC, and Rebecca Knight-Beno (Cooper Teal ) of Lisle. His girls were the light of his life. He was also a cherished Grandpa to Parker, Alexander and Baby Hrynyk (arriving March 2023) that he adored so much. He also leaves behind his dearest loving friend Elizabeth Espadas of Tiny.
Pre-deceased by his parents Ernest and Margaret (Laughlin) Beno. Donnie was survived by his sister Patricia Turner of Florida, brothers Ernest (Mia) of Kingston, Wayne (Olga) of Nova Scotia, John and stepbrother Michael Hunter both of Brighton. Pre-deceased by his sisters Sandra Edelstein of Toronto and Linda Drinkle of Hillsbury. He also leaves to mourn many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Don was an entrepreneur in the printing industry and had a passion for home renovations. He also received his teaching degree from Queens University and taught for over 25 years with a majority of his time at Eastview Secondary School in Barrie. He was also Past Master (1990) of the Seven Star Masonic Lodge 285 in Alliston.
Don was an avid clock collector and had a love for old cars. He was also a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and loved to watch every game he could. Don was a loyal friend and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He also had a love for animals and opened his arms for any “pets” his daughters would bring home to him and cared for them deeply.
Respecting Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of Donald’s life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations would be sincerely appreciated by the family to the following: Alliston & District Humane Society and Canadian Mental Health Association York and South Simcoe
