Obituary of DIANE CHERYL OYSTRECK
Diane Cheryl Oystreck (née Hoye) passed away peacefully November 28 at home at the age of 67, with her devoted husband Randy at her side. Her soul has left her body and is now in our hearts.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy & William Hoye, beloved aunt Florence Hoye, and father-in-law George Oystreck.
Diane is survived by her husband Randy, children Adam, Jaclyn (William) & Jonathan, and grandchildren Maxwell, Emmett & Olsen. She also leaves brother Donald (Donna), sisters-in-law Vionne & Estelle (Robert); mother-in-law Dolaine; nieces and nephews Bree (Vlad), Bryce, Jennie & Devin; and best friend Karen.
She was born and raised in West Kildonan, and graduated from Garden City Collegiate. She met and married the love of her life, Randy, and moved to Transcona, where they lived for the rest of her life.
She loved her summers at her family’s cottages at Delta and Matlock. She would speak lovingly about swimming lessons in the lake and other wonderful memories from her childhood with her cousins at Delta. At Matlock, she loved the beach, chatting with other cottagers on the pier, birdwatching on the veranda, and hosting guests. The most precious memories were made there with family; bonfires, game nights, and watching her children and first grandchild grow and enjoy it there as much as she did. She and Randy also enjoyed vacationing at the Grand Sirenis Resort in Mexico.
She loved attending and supporting her children’s sports activities, and dedicated her life to their aspirations. She would always be there to greet her children with a proud smile, shoulder to cry on, or the excitement of a number one fan. Warm smile and kindhearted, she was fiercely protective of those she loved. Those who knew her would describe her as a kind person with a big smile and warmth about her. But she would never let a family member or friend be taken advantage of, and would let her mother bear claws come out when needed. She put her family above herself in every stage of life even when it got difficult, and fought bravely to be around for the birth of her beautiful grandsons.
The family especially thanks Dr. Jessica Beatty ND and the staff at Via Natural Medicine for helping Diane prolong her projected two years remaining to 10 more years of life, as well as the compassionate people at Palliative Care, who went above and beyond to make her comfortable during her last, most difficult months.
Diane requested not to have a funeral, so please get together with your families and share her memory. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice and support your local naturopath.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of DIANE
