It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share with you the passing of Denis on Saturday July 30 2022, at home, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his loving wife Sara Youbi, parents Kenneth and Francine Raymond (Prévost), sister Andrée (Jeff) Ryan and nephews Caleb and Felix. Denis will be missed by his surviving grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as Sara’s family, many colleagues and a great number of friends.
Although Denis has left us much too soon, he lived his life to the fullest and has been a model of positivity and courage for all of us. He was happiest while traveling the world or planning his next adventure. Whether at the piano, with his guitar or Ukulele, he generously shared his musical talent with everyone and loved to entertain. In the last nine years of his life, Denis did not allow his brain cancer to define him: He continued to travel, obtained a second master’s degree and married his beloved Sara.
Denis was involved in many different charities and organizations. Donations in memory of Denis can be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, Hospice Care Ottawa or another charity of your choice. As per Denis’ wishes, there will be no funeral services. Denis’ family requests that everyone who has known him take a moment and reflect on his impact on our lives: listen to music, tell a story and laugh with friends and, if you can, plan an amazing and excellent adventure with Denis as your inspiration.

C’est avec le cœur lourd et une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Denis le 30 juillet 2022, à la maison, entouré de sa famille. Il laisse dans le deuil sa tendre épouse Sara Youbi, ses parents Kenneth et Francine Raymond (Prévost), sa sœur Andrée (Jeff) Ryan et ses neveux Caleb et Felix. Denis manquera à ses grands-parents survivants, tantes, oncles et cousins ainsi qu’à la famille de Sara, à plusieurs collègues et un grand nombre d’amis.
Bien que Denis nous ait quittés beaucoup trop tôt, il a vécu sa vie pleinement et a été un modèle de positivité et de courage pour nous tous. Il était le plus heureux en parcourant le monde ou en planifiant sa prochaine aventure. Que ce soit au piano, avec sa guitare ou son ukulélé, il partageait généreusement son talent musical avec tous. Au cours des neuf dernières années de sa vie, Denis n’a pas laissé son cancer du cerveau le définir : il a continué à voyager, a obtenu une deuxième maîtrise et a épousé sa bien-aimée Sara.
Denis a été impliqué dans de nombreux organismes de bienfaisance et organisations. Des dons à la mémoire de Denis peuvent être faits à la Fondation canadienne des tumeurs cérébrales, Soins palliatifs Ottawa ou à un autre organisme de bienfaisance de votre choix. Selon la volonté de Denis, il n’y aura pas de services funéraires. La famille de Denis demande à tous ceux qui l’ont connu de prendre un moment et de réfléchir à son impact sur nos vies : écouter de la musique, raconter une histoire et rire avec des amis et, si vous le pouvez, planifier une aventure incroyable et excellente avec Denis comme source d’inspiration.
