Dawn’s Obituary
Dawn Colleen Robar, 67, of Aylesford East, passed away peacefully in the Intensive Care Unit of Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville in the early hours of Friday, June 17, 2022, at the age of 67 after a long and frustrating battle with multiple health issues. She is now at peace, her struggles over. Born in Middleton hospital, Dawn was the eldest daughter of Mable Ilena (Hiltz) Robar and the late Arnold St. Clair Robar, and was an Aylesford-area resident her entire life. Dawn was an honours graduate of West Kings District High School (1973) and earned Bachelor of Arts (1976) and Bachelor of Education (1977) degrees from Acadia University. Dawn was a respected and well-loved teacher in Kings County for 33 years, all but one of those spent teaching Grade 5 at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Aylesford. She truly loved the young people she taught. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Auburn; in earlier years in the church choir, a long-time member of the church council, the Anglican Church Women and also taught Sunday school. She loved to cook, spent many happy hours gardening and enjoyed traveling in Europe while her health allowed. Dawn is survived by her mother Mable, a resident at Heart of the Valley Long Term Care in Middleton; sister, Twila Robar-DeCoste and brother-in-law, John DeCoste, Aylesford; numerous cousins and lifelong friends, including her church family. She will also be missed by her cat, Lexie. Dawn was predeceased by her father Arnold in 2003; and by her husband, Brian Webster, in 2006. The family wishes to thank the EHS paramedics, the staff of Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton and Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville and in particular the nurses and staff of the Intensive Care Unit. There will be no visitation by request. Family flowers only, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Box 99, Auburn, N.S. B0P1A0. Funeral service will take place Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 20 Morden Road, Auburn, N.S. Due to Dawn’s request for a ‘green burial’, the funeral will begin with a short interment service in the cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life inside the church, Rev. Mel Malton officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. An online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
