Obituary of David Kay Lyons
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of David Kay Lyons on April 3rd, 2022.
Born on April 9, 1941 in Calgary, Dave grew up farming near Rockyford, AB, taking over the farm at a very young age after the passing of his father.
A dedicated son, husband, father and grandfather, nothing meant more to Dave than his family. He was a selfless person and made many sacrifices throughout his life for those he loved.
He and his wife of 47 years, Carol, looked after his mother and raised four busy children while keeping the farm going.
Always an entrepreneur, Dave farmed for 25 years before transitioning into business ownership, where he was known for being hardworking, honest, and positive.
He loved to read and had a passion for learning, getting his pilot’s licence later in life and eventually buying and flying his own plane.
Dave was full of life and good humour and always had a good story to tell that usually ended with his big laugh.
He loved the outdoors and had a way with animals, he had many great dogs in his life who loved him as much as he loved them.
Dave was predeceased by his loving wife, Carol Lyons (Thurston) in 2013.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family, Lorissa and Rene Pelletier and their daughters Brenna, Leah and Eden; Mike and Rhonda Lyons and their children Matt, Cassidy and Kaylie; Jan and Trevor Wathen and their daughters Tatum, Daylen and Bailee; Jeff Lyons and Eva Kanovich and their children Hannah, Justin and Anika.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Strathmore United Church (410 – 4 St. Strathmore) at 2:00 p.m.
