Obituary
On October 17th, 2022, David Richard Kearney, son of Donal(Dennis) and Michelina Kearney, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Owen Sound Hospital. He was 80 years old. Surrounded by his loving family by his side, holding his hand during his final moments, he now joins his beautiful wife Karen in heaven, who passed away October 7th, 2021.
David Kearney was born in Malta during the war, and like a warrior, he fought bravely against cancer for many years until his fight was eventually over.
When he was 18 he married Karen Anne Walker and together they had 5 wonderful children, David, Lonette, Tom, Rayleneand Michael. He is a father, a grand father, a great grandfather, and even a great, great grandfather. He leaves behind his sisters Dorothy, Carmel, and younger brother Michael. Together Dave and Karen created a very large, proud, strong family that spans more than 2 continents.
He had many jobs and always worked hard to keep food on his family’s table. He didn’t always know what he was doing, but he would always do it to the best of his abilities, and never stopped trying. No matter how hard the job was or how scared he was, he wouldn’t quit. He made a career working for Air Canada, and was known for being a reliable person, a comedian who could always make a joke at any moment, and an artist who would make cartoons of his friends, family, Co-workers, and anybody who would ask.
He was a wonderful man and was always a phone call away for advice, help, or just somebody to talk to who would actually listen. He could be cranky and stubborn sometimes, often he would get caught in his own ways, but he always loved everybody in his family, and would make time for any of us, any time of the day. Your name, lessons, and memories will live on in our hearts forever. You were tough, hilarious, and brilliant.You taught us to “kill em’ with kindness”, and it’s made life much easier since taking that advice.
God rest your soul David Richard Kearney, may heaven be the paradise you wished for, and may you be greeted by your wife Karen at the Pearly Gates, as you knock on heavens door.
