Obituary of Dave Greason
David Ross Greason was born on March 14, 1946, in Regina Saskatchewan. He passed on August 31, 2022. Dave was predeceased by his Father Ross, and his Mother Irene. He is survived by his Wife Barbara, Son David, (Sheryl), his Son Brent, (Michelle), his Grandchildren Cassidy, Connor, and Garion. His Sister Carol Sangster, (Jim), and their Children Dave’s Nephews Russell, (Johnna), Scott, (Roberta), Michael, (Karen), and their children. From Barb’s side Dave’s Nieces and Nephews Faith, Corey, and Angela, (Maurice), and their children.
He was a man of few words, much love. He took pleasure in quiet, simple things like listening to thunderstorms, walks with his dogs, the articles of the day, great quotes from movies and literature, and watching sailboats going by in the sun with Barb at their home on the water. Sitting with him was often a time of quiet reflection, the calm surface broken with a silly comment, quick laugh, or warm smile. His walk through life with Barb, whom he shared 49 years of marriage with, given the chance, he would have reflected that ‘of the walks we have taken together, this one is my favourite’.
He loved us with acts of service, such as his handiness for home repairs, and the gentle guidance of his sons. He loved watching his grandchildren grow. He would sneak Cassidy donuts and Slurpee’s for breakfast (if no one stopped him), swap stories and moments from the great wars with Connor, go on walks with Garion and Mr. Darcy, and sneak in a golf lesson every chance he got for all. He also loved and respected the strong women his sons brought into his life in Sherry and Michelle.
Following a long and successful career, retiring from WorkSafeNB, he was blessed with much time to pursue his passion for Golf. He got his hole in one and golfed his age several times over. He was drawn to and loved the game that gave him the ability to put his discipline, drive, and serenity to constant practice and challenge. He would want to thank any and all that enjoyed a great walk spoiled with him over the years.
He taught through his passions and his quiet nature that all the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: Family, Quiet, Reading, Thinking, and Golf. He had a high wit but was never above low humour. Truly a man for all seasons who taught those in his care to think, to doubt what seems to be inevitable… but never doubt he loved.
A Celebration of Life Service, open to friends and family, will be held at Westfield Golf and Country Club at 8 Golf Club Rd, Grand Bay New Brunswick, E5K 3C8, on Friday September 16th from 2-4PM.
