In loving memory of Darwin Pollock, who passed away on September 19, 2022. His will to live was beyond compare. He played the card he was dealt with strength, dignity and humour.
He leaves to grieve his wife Chantal (née Robitaille), son Sam (Caroline Asselin), daughter Caroline and grandchildren Simon and Marilou. His love for his family was boundless and his pride in their accomplishments was palpable. Also left to grieve is his brother Fred (Laurie), his sisters Lorraine Guardino (Patrick), Shaunne (Jim Rogers) and Barb Kraft Kuiack (Larry Kuiack), his sisters-in-law Lyne Robitaille (Allan Cormier), Carole LeBlanc (Pierre) and his brothers-in-law Robin Robitaille (Paula Benish) as well as Luc Robitaille (Joanna Garcia). As uncle Dar, he will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews whom he mentored. Furthermore, he will be fondly remembered by his wide circle of friends, who were by his side until the very end.
Originally from Ripley, in southern Ontario, Darwin was born in 1955 to Darwin and Marie (née Melanson) Pollock. He lost his father at the young age of seven and later Howard Kraft became his stepfather. They are all predeceased. He started his work life in the construction sector, became an electrician for Petryna Electric and eventually worked his way as director for Infrastructure Ontario, where he was referred to as “Total Recall”. His passions were sports. He was a talented hockey player, a dedicated hockey coach and an experienced sailor on the North Channel of Lake Huron.
We are grateful to the medical and health care staff of 4North, the Cancer Centre and the Emergency department at Health Sciences North, who provided excellent care. They treated Darwin with compassion and respect.
Relatives and friends are welcome for visitation at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 122 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, October 3, 2022, from 5 to 9 p.m. A celebration of Darwin’s meaningful life will be held at the Northern Water Sports Centre, 206 Ramsey Lake Rd, Sudbury, October 4, 2022, beginning promptly at 1 to 4 p.m. If desired, donations will be gratefully received in Darwin’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada or the charity of your choice.
