Darryl Christopher Parry, 53, of Thunder Bay, passed away on February 19, 2021. Darryl is survived by his mother Cecile Parry, his children Nicholas (Jennifer), Paige (Hunter), Kyra (Jordin), their mother (Lesley (Tracey)), his siblings Deanna (Rob) Koziy, Steve (Sonia) Parry, Susan (Rick) Taylor, Jim (Zita) Parry and, Julie (Dominic) Politi, his nephews and nieces Michael (Lia) Parry, Matthew (Dilini) Koziy, Sean Parry, Kristi Politi, Nick (Kim) Politi, Amelia Parry and extended family members and friends.Darryl was born on April 6, 1968, grew up in Thunder Bay, attended Hammarskjold High School and worked as a courier most of his working life (most fitting as he loved to drive and had an amazing sense of direction). He was an avid sports fan and he loved to watch his teams the Boston Bruins and Minnesota Vikings. Darryl was also a strong athlete who excelled in sports, especially hockey. In the early years, he loved to play sports – hockey, baseball, you name it. He loved being active, social and part of a team. With his strong personality he would engage with anyone anywhere. Nicholas, Paige, and Kyra were his greatest love. He was so immensely proud of them. When he learned he would be a dad to a son and then, to twin daughters he was completely ecstatic. He would tell everyone and anyone within earshot about all their accomplishments. Nothing made him happier than to know they were enjoying life. Darryl had a tough temperament and was a force to be reckoned with. But those who knew him saw a soft side that loved fiercely. To some, he was known as ‘Moose’ ‘D’, ‘DP’ or ‘Bear’. He was extremely protective of those he loved, especially towards his kids and his sister Susan. He is predeceased by his father Edward (Bud) Parry in 2018, his grandparents and other loved family members. A celebration of Darryl’s life will be held in the spring. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Thunder Bay Chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association in his memory.
