DERYCKE, Daniel Michel (October 31, 1932 – June 6, 2022) –
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Daniel Michel Derycke, surrounded by loving family members, at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, on June 6th, 2022, at the age of 89. Daniel was born in Kuurne, W.F., Belgium to Jules and Irma (nee Faillie) Derycke. Daniel was a tobacco farmer in Mt. Brydges, Delhi and then Langton, before retiring and moving to Tillsonburg. Daniel is predeceased by his wife Arthemise “Susie” (nee Mostrey) Derycke (February 19, 1983). Daniel was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Langton. Daniel will be remembered as a strong family man and was always a proud father and loving grandfather- he would do everything and anything he could to support and be present for his family. Daniel is survived by his son Rick (Ethel) Derycke, of Turkey Point and their children Brittany (Shawn) Stys, of Simcoe; Cory Derycke, of Paris, Ontario. Also survived by his daughter Jacqueline (Donald) Wettlaufer, of London and their children Ashley McNamara, of London and her daughter Kaedynce; Amberlee Wettlaufer (Will Wall), of London and their children Rhyland, Emerson, and Wyatt. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Daniel is survived by his siblings Lucienne Derycke, Michel (Flora) Derycke, Annie (Roger) Decrop. Predeceased by his siblings Simone Decrop, Robert Derycke. Predeceased by his father-in-law Gentiel Mostrey, mother-in-law Alice Mostrey, brother and sisters-in-law Rachel (Oscar) Vaeyens, Angela Mostrey.
A Traditional Funeral Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June 10th, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel (40 Queen St., Langton) by Rev. Fr. Thomas Kuriacko. Interment follows in Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery (24 Albert St., Langton). All funeral attendees are invited to a funeral luncheon held immediately after the interment in the Courtland Community Centre (272 Main St., Courtland). All are invited to attend a public visitation on Thursday, June 9th, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Langton. A private family prayer service will be held on Thursday evening.
