Conrad was a well-respected, honorable, and trusting businessman. He had been active in the ACT/UCT for over 50 years and a member of the C.I.M. In 2008, he was an inductee to SAMSSA, MineConnect Business Hall of Fame and in 2014 he was inducted into the Sudbury Sports Hall of Fame. He proudly founded Tracks & Wheels on February 1, 1980. Conny was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by the Rotary Club for his outstanding humanitarian efforts which included being a Big Brother and, a founder and sponsor of the Strokes for Hope Golf Tournament to build the Regional Cancer Centre. He then sponsored a room at the House of Kin so out of town families dealing with illnesses would have a good place to stay. He dedicated the room in memory of Kevin, Lorry and Emily Houle and Micheal Rollins. A champion for cancer care and research, he was a longtime supporter of the Luncheon of Hope and helped start Miners for Cancer having Tracks & Wheels give a Kubota tractor as a prize. A proud Canadian, he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 in Sudbury, and he supported many veterans’ issues. In the area of athletics, he supported Robert Esmie’s Olympic training and successes, he supported Paralympics and the Top Glove Boxing nonprofit organization. Another priority for Conny was helping the needy and feeding the hungry. He donated hams at Christmastime to the Elgin Street Mission and St. Jean de Brébeuf hampers for needy families for years as well as being a longtime supporter of the Sudbury Food Bank. In addition, he has helped countless individuals in the community on a personal level. Conny enjoyed a good visit with friends whether at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club, at his beloved camp or with his good neighbours. He will be missed but not forgotten by all who knew and loved him – Rest in Peace Conrad.
