Clyde Edward Stanton- age 57 of Knoxville passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022. Clyde “the Mule Holler Missile” lived to race, and the only thing he loved more than racing was his family and the community of friends that he built along the way. If he wasn’t at the racetrack, you could find Clyde at a Carter game watching his daughters, nieces, nephews or grandkids compete. Regardless of the sport, whatever the season, Clyde was a regular fixture on the sideline cheering on his family. He had a caring heart and a generous spirit. Anyone who knew Clyde knew he would drop what he was doing to help out when needed.
Preceded in death by his father, Robert Stanton, Sr and brother, Timothy ‘Tim’ Marshall Stanton.
Survived by mother, Dorothy ‘Dot’ Stanton; daughters, Hayle (Caleb) Yokley and Amber (Ryan) Kerschen; grandchildren, Emitt and Archer Yokley; brother, Bobby (Emily) Stanton; nieces and nephews, Valerie Wilson, Brett (Vanessa) Stanton, Landry (Jordan) Stanton; and several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 2:30-3:30 PM on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Bridges Funeral Home. Family and friends will then gather 3:45 PM on Thursday at Asbury Cemetery for a 4:00 PM graveside service. Arrangements by Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999. www.bridgesfuneralhome.com
