The family of Clementine Sorensen of Melville, widow of Leif Sorensen sadly announce her passing on Saturday, July 23 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville. Clem was 91 years of age.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, July 28 at 10:00a.m. from St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church.
The interment will follow in St. Henry’s Parish Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Clem may be made to Mass Offerings, Church Memorial Fund, Parish Cemetery Fund ( C/O Box 100, Melville, SK S0A 2P0) or Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan (C/O 200-4545 Parliament Ave., Regina, SK S4W 0G3) as gifts of remembrance.
Clementine Sorensen (nee Revet) more commonly known to family and friends as Clem, or Clemie was born on August 20, 1930 in Antler SK. She was the sixth of eleven children born to Gaston and Marie-Anne Revet.
She was raised on a family farm near Antler where she attended Kelvindale Country School for a short period of time before heading out into the work force. She held many odd jobs such as cleaning houses, cooking and working for large families caring for their children. She began to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse while working at Antler and Medfort hospitals. Her dream was interrupted as most stories go when she fell in love with the man of her dreams.
In 1953, she married Leif Sorensen and began her new life. They lived in many Saskatchewan communities before settling in Melville. Their marriage was blessed with six children. Clem was a very active and caring stay at home mother. In later years, she had time to volunteer many hours to the CWL, Rosary Sodality and many other organizations.
Clem enjoyed gardening, volunteering wherever needed, baking and cooking. Her best times were those spent with family and most importantly her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family was always her number one priority.
Clem entered her eternal rest peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville on Saturday July 23, 2022 after living a very fulfilling and loving life with family and numerous friends. Clem had a personality where those who met her loved her instantly.
Predeceased by her loving husband Leif of 60 years, an infant daughter Valerie, sons Kevin and Vernon, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers.
Clem leaves to cherish and celebrate her life son Wayne (Ruth), son Erik (Charlotte) and daughter Leiflynn (Dwaine), son-in-law Blair Freimark, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, numerous other family members and precious friends. What earth has lost, heaven has gained.
