Clara was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, on September 30, 1934. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the young age of five and was baptized at the age of 11. Clara’s family moved to Manitoba when she was 14 years old and they settled in the Randolph area. At the age of 17 Clara contracted Polio, causing her to miss her last year of school. She was very determined to finish her school and went back to graduate after she recovered.
In 1953, Clara met Peter at a church youth group and they fell in love. They married three years later on June 10, 1956, and settled on a farm south of Steinbach.
Clara did perma teaching for short periods of time as there was need which facilitated her love for grammer and proper English! During this time she started her family and was also busy with the garden and helping Dad with the dairy farm.
