Pace, Clara Rose
Mira Road
Clara Pace (Oakley), of Mira Road, passed away with family by her side on Monday, August 1.
Clara was a lifelong resident of Mira Road and mainstay on Edgar Street. She and her late husband Roy (Pacie) enjoyed traveling the Maritimes attending antique car shows. They, also, enjoyed their many friendships as active members of Club 55. It didn’t matter where they were, they were with their favorite person in the world. The love, kindness, and respect they had for each other cannot be written in words, it needed to be witnessed.
Clara was a ferociously loyal person, particularly when it came to her family. Christmas began in her family on December 23 (Pacie’s birthday). The entire family gathered for decades to the smells of baked ham and onion pie at Clara’s home. Clara loved company. You weren’t in her house for two minutes without the teapot on and food in the broiler. Her house was your house. The more, the merrier.
Clara is predeceased by her parents Jim and Jemima Oakley, her husband Roy (Pacie), and her siblings: Ellen (Francis), Bob (Margaret), Howard (Florence), Gerald (Bessie), Walter (Jean), and Karl. Clara is survived by her brother Murray (Bridget) and her sister Laurel (Frank), her nieces and nephews Sharon (Ray), Lawrence, Roy (Julie), and Freddy (Charlotte). Great nieces and nephews, Dallas (Sheri), Brandy, Lindsay (Scott), Jonathan, Amy (Jordan), Brandon, Alan (Jessika) and Brighton. Along with great, great nieces and nephews: Landon, Lane, London Skye, Rylee, Aiden, and Ben.
Clara was a kind, sensitive and important mentor to many in her family. She taught love and unconditional care for others. Clara was always in your corner when you needed her. It’s a legacy that will be passed down through the generations.
At Clara’s request there will be a small, private service to be held at a later date. Donations in Clara’s name can be made to Palliative Care of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
