Obituary of Cherie Lynn Anakin-Alexander
ANAKIN-ALEXANDER: Cherie Lynn –
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cherie Lynn Anakin-Alexander, a beautiful soul, a strong independent woman, and the best Mother in the world on May 25th, 2022 at the age of 55. Our lives will never be the same without her.
Born in Chatham, Cherie was the daughter of the late Robert and Carolyn (Guyitt) Anakin. She is survived by her daughter Madelyn and husband Austin Detailleur, her son, Benjamin, and her best friend Kimberly Street Abram and family. She grew up skating competitively and attended Tecumseh Secondary School. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from her alma mater, Western University. Since her graduation, Cherie has worked her entire career at The Royal Bank Of Canada, rising to the position of National Manager of the Mortgage Assistance Program. Cherie’s passion for skating continued throughout her life, she was an active Judge, Evaluator, and Technical Official for more than 30 years. She moved to Toronto with her children to support them in pursuing their dreams of becoming professional ballet dancers. Cherie always put Madelyn and Benjamin first. If you knew Cherie then you understood what a beam of light she was. She valued positivity and love above all else.
There will be a celebration of life for Cherie on June 11, 2022. Details will follow shortly.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Canada’s National Ballet School’s Endowment Fund. One of Cherie’s goals in life was to establish her own scholarship to assist underprivileged dancers in receiving needed training. Arrangements are entrusted to McKinlay Funeral Home, Chatham.
We are so lucky to have a Mom that pushed us to pursue our goals no matter what. She supported us in any and every way. It is so hard to say goodbye, but we know she will always be with us in spirit. We love and miss you, Mom.
