Charles’ Obituary
Passed peacefully, surrounded by family, at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Monday, April 25th,2022 after a long battle with cancer, Charles Joseph Young.
Charlie was a strong, hard-working, and patient man who had a smile and a laugh that he shared freely through an endless stream of jokes and fun making. A lifelong Maple Leafs fan he watched the team for the majority of his eighty-two years, cheering them on through thick and thin.
He was a friendly, familiar face and fixture at the bingo, his love of which was only superseded by his love and devotion to: his wife of fifty-five years Verena (née. Carter); his children: Charles ”Pushy” (Susan), Thomas, Lisa, Mary, Gerard “Manny” (Tracy), Floyd, Caroline (Terry), and Christina “Tine” (Daniel). His family was not limited to just his own children, Charlie also took part in raising his grandchildren: Crystal (Ivan) and Todd “TJ” and was lovingly known as Dad and Dada respectively because of this. He also leaves to mourn: his sisters: Lucy “Cookie” and Geraldine “Bea”; and brother Archibald “Archie”; as well as a great number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended relatives, and friends.
Charlie was predeceased by: parents Stephen and Ada; his brothers John “Johnny” and Jeremiah “Jerry”; and his grandson Dorman.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 28th at 2-4 & 7-9 PM from Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing. The Funeral will be held on Friday, April 29th at 10 AM from Assumption Parish, Stephenville Crossing. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Mattis Point.
