Charles Henderson
1932-2022
Henderson, Charles (Chuck)
With broken hearts we
announce the loss of our very special Dad, Grandfather,
Great-grandfather and true friend Chuck Henderson on Monday, November
7, 2022. Chuck would have turned “90” on November
16, 2022. Chuck leaves behind his devoted children, son Rick, daughter
Lisa and her husband Rolfe Huiskamp, his loving grandchildren Ashley,
Kyle, his wife Ali, Caitlin, Logan, and great-grandchildren Kaiden,
and Weston. Predeceased by his beautiful wife of 60 years
Lois (nee Daymond), 2015. Predeceased by his parents Gordon
Henderson and Teresa Mae (nee Howard).
Chuck was the youngest and the last surviving of his
siblings. Brothers, Gordon, Howard, William, George and his
sister Doris. He had a wonderful smile and a happy demenour.
Chuck had a big heart and he cherished his family and
friendships. Born in Midland, Ontario, Chuck started his
love of playing hockey and was recognized by the New York Rangers
scouts after his Midland Bantam team won the Ontario championship in
1947/48. Chuck signed a “C” contract at a young
age and played with the Rangers junior team in Guelph. He was a proud
member of the Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters where his team won the
Memorial Cup during the 1951/1952 season. That year Chuck and his line
mates, Ron Murphy, and Kenny Laufman, set a single season points
record for a line with 346 points. Chuck scored 41 goals and had 50
assists. Chuck went on to play intermediate and senior hockey in
Saskatoon, Kamloops, and Windsor. His love for hockey
continued with coaching All-Star Peewees and Bantams. In 1998 Chuck
was inducted into the Midland Sports Hall of Fame, and in May 2016 he
was inducted into the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame where his picture
remains at the Guelph Sleeman Centre. Cremation and a private family
service to take place. Arrangements entrusted to
Gilchrist Chapel McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home,
One Delhi Street, Guelph (519-824-0031). We invite you
to leave your memories online at: www.gilchristchapel.com
and they will be forwarded to the family.

  1. Deepest sympathy to the family, Lisa, Rick, and the grandchildren. Uncle Chuck will always be remembered with fondness. His hockey photos adorn the walls and the Hall of Fame in his hometown of Midland.
