Obituary
Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years Joan; his children Glen (Iris) Anderson, Joanne (Jason) Poloway, and Charlene Gauld; his grandchildren Andrew, Danielle, Patrick, Nolan, Dawson, Jaxon, and Jacob; and great-grandchildren Austin and Adan.
Chuck was born and raised in Calgary and was the second youngest of 5 brothers. He attended Western Canada High School. In his younger years, he worked for Crystal Dairy (part of the Union Milk Company) and the Hudson’s Bay Company. He also worked for the City of Calgary in the Land department. Over the course of his life, he also worked for the land department in Vernon, was an Economic Development Officer, co-owner of Hillcrest Porcelain Imports, and a security guard.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and travel. Moving was another “hobby” for Chuck and Joan! They lived in a number of different places while he was working and also after retiring. In Alberta, they lived in Calgary and St. Albert. In British Columbia, they lived in Vernon, Nanaimo (where Chuck ran for mayor in 1982!), Williams Lake, Abbotsford, and Maple Ridge. They also enjoyed over 10 years in Shediac, New Brunswick.
Chuck was well known for being a “snazzy” dresser. He wore a suit and tie for most of his life along with an amazing variety of hats. It wasn’t until he was in his 90s that he started dressing more casually – and that just meant ditching the tie!
In his later years, he was diagnosed with dementia and had to be placed in full-time care in August of 2020. We would like to thank all the staff on the Meadowlands unit at Age Care Walden for taking care of him. I know he made quite an impression on the staff with his outfit selections and hats and will be missed.

Currently, there are no plans for a service.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be announced later.
