It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Chad Allan Synott, 52 years of age on August 17, 2022 in Castlegar, BC. Chad was born in Calgary, Alberta on June 3, 1970 where he lived the first 42 years of his life and formed many lasting friendships that he carried with him to beautiful Castlegar, BC, where the family settled to build their dream home.
Chad is survived by his “dream girl”, wife Carrie Kedge Synott, his two beautiful boys, Mason Synott and Evan Synott, his parents, Larry Synott and Emilie Synott, his brother Darrin Synott, nieces Chantelle Synott and Alyssa Synott, Mother-in-law and Father-in-law Kay Kedge and Bob Kedge, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Chris Kedge and Carolynne Kedge, nieces Katie Kedge and Sofia Kedge as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends who were very special to him.
The Synott family built their cabin at Larch Point in the Windermere Valley in 1980 and had many years of family enjoyment. Growing up, Chad loved going to the cabin with family and friends where mornings started off with stacks of french toast with lots of berries and whipped cream prior to heading out for the day. From there, days were filled with excitement and adventure, whether it was water skiing, tubing, wind surfing, or riding his iron steed into the mountains. The cabin was a second home to Chad (and many of his friends) and was the start of his love affair with the mountains.
Chad graduated from William Aberhart High School in Calgary in 1988, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from the University of Calgary. Chad had many accomplishments as anyone who has seen his resume can attest to. His love of art, music, playing guitar, scuba diving, photography, graphics, safety, and sales in general enabled him to dabble in many areas for work and meet incredible people along the way. His greatest accomplishment, however, is that he was a loving husband and an amazing father who took every opportunity to teach his boys the life skills they will need as they grow into young men. He loved fishing, cars, anything motorized, tinkering around the property and could fix anything you put in front of him (almost anything). This earned him the nickname of MacGyver as he always found a solution to a problem. He dreamed big and he loved unconditionally. He was a big strong teddy bear with a huge heart and dimples that made your heart smile. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Chad will tell you what a fun loving, goofy, funny, witty, caring, generous person he was, and he will be so deeply missed by all that knew him.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be planned for early September, 2022 in Calgary, Alberta. There will also be a local Celebration of Life planned in Castlegar, B.C. for the end of September 2022. Details will be provided as soon as possible. Kole Roth of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services ™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
