Obituary
Allen, Bryce (Sam) The family of Bryce Allen of Tracy, NB, wishes to announce his passing on January 1, 2022. Bryce was born in Fredericton Junction, NB. on February 24, 1937 to the late Jessie (Tracy) and Lance Allen. Bryce is the loving husband of Peggy Allen of Tracy, NB.
Along with his wife, Bryce is survived by a daughter Susanne Kujundzic (Andy), three sons; Timothy Allen, Kerry Allen and Kim McLaughlin (Rochelle), two sisters; Nancy Lewis (Murray) and Esther Breau, five grandchildren; Curtis, Ashton, Josh, Chelan, Rhiannon, four great grandchildren; Lily, Ryder, Dexter and Erica, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bryce graduated from SWRHS in 1955 and attended 1st year of UNB. Joined the RCN in 10, March 1957. After completing New Entry training in HMCS Cornwallis. Posted to HMCS Shearwater where he completed 6 months of training on Helicopters. Selected for Aircrew training and graduated in August 1958 and presented with his wings having been trained in Avengers and Trackers. Posted to VS 880 Squadron where he flew from HMCS Bonaventure for the next 5 years. Trained in Helicopters and posted to HS 50 Sqdn where he flew for the next 3 years from Bonnie. Sent to CFB Camp Borden, trained as an Ground Control Approach. Controlled and spent the next 3 years in Shearwater Tower. He was the last Navy Controller. Posted to HS 50 spent the next 3 years flying SeaKings from HMCS Margaree. Promoted to CPO and sent to CFB Greenwood trained in the Argus. Posted to VP 415 SQND in CFB Summerside took over as Chief of the SQND. After flying in Argus for almost 5 years was selected as Base Chief of CFB Summerside by the Base Commander Col. Kincade. Retired October 31st, 1978.
Bryce was a life member of Gladstone Branch #55 with Meritorious Service Medal and Palm Leaf. He received the 50-year medal in 2007. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Legion Estates and the Gladstone Curling Club. Past Master of Sunbury Lodge #42 and 32 Degree of the Scottish Rite. Member of the Canadian Naval Air Group and Charter Member of the New Brunswick Naval Association. Started the Gladstone Junior Curling Club and supervised the club for 16 years. Represented the Gladstone Senior Legion Curling at the Dominion Level twice in 1997 and 1999.
Along with his parents Bryce is predeceased by a brother Charles Allen, daughter-in-law Lory Spooner, and brother-in-law Bob Breau.
No visitations are planned but a private service will be held at Sunbury Funeral Home. The family would appreciate donations in Bryce’s honor be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55. A special tribute in Bryce’s honor was held at the New Years levee at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #55 on New Years day.
Masks are mandatory along with Proof of Vaccinations at this time to protect our loved ones from Covid-19. Social Distancing and 50% capacity within the Funeral Home will be enforced.

  1. I am deeply saddened by the news that my great friend Bryce, has passed My profound sympathies to Peggy and family. He was indeed a fine man and we had wonderful times together. RIP Bryce.
