Brian passed away peacefully at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday
September 27, 2022, at the age of 80.
He was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and the son of the late Augustus and Violet (Hanna) Dawson. Beloved wife of 26 years to Gordana (Celik) Dawson. Dear father to Gary (Sherrie) and Gavin (Julie).
Proud papa to Kirsten, Brianna, Brandon and great papa to Liam, Levi, Braelynn.
Loving brother of Richard (Kay), Lenore, Ronald, Valerie (Ron), Gail (Peter) and predeceased by Ingrid (George).
Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and his furry companion Maxx.
Brian came to Canada in 1965, taking up residence in Scarborough, Ont. After a brief career with the government in Ottawa, Brian travelled to Chatham to pursue a career with Canadian Fram in 1978. In the early 1990’s Brian and his wife became the proud owners/operators of ServiceMaster Chatham/Windsor where he recently retired.
Brian dedicated much of his free time to coaching youth soccer and hockey. He always enjoyed boating and camping. Brian was very proud of receiving the prestigious Queen’s Scout award, presented by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. More recently, Brian enjoyed his woodworking hobby, and spending winters at his Florida home with his Harley and his friends.
The family will receive friends at McKinley funeral home, 459 St. Clair St. on Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 11am – 1pm with service to follow with Reverend Allan McIntyre officiating.
