December 4, 1935 – March 31, 2022
It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Brian Joseph Furlong on March 31, 2022 at the age of 86. Brian is the last descendant of the original Furlong clan who settled in this area around the First World War.
Beloved eternal soul mate of Patricia Carroll . Brian was a brilliant, loving and kind gentleman of great integrity, genuine to the core and generous to a fault. His strength and courage were above exemplary. Brian was born in Riverside to the late Bernard Furlong K.C. (King’s Counsel) and Florence Green. Predeceased by siblings Theresa, Sister Jane OSU, Rosemary, Madeline (Williamson) (late Doug Sr.), Mary Grace (Haggerty), Terence, (Margaret), Michael UEL(late Sylvia) & Sean. Survived by nephews Doug Williamson (Evelyn), Tim Williamson (Susan), the late Brian Williamson, Michael Furlong, niece Sarah Furlong, the late Sean Haggerty, great nephew Keith Williamson.
He will be missed by his beloved cat Jasmine “Jazzy”.
Brian worked for Ford Motor Company of Canada for 41 years and retired as an analyst at the former casting plant office in 1997. He was active in UAW-CAW Local 240 in the early years, but his real love was politics. Brian was a veteran “foot soldier” in the Liberal Party of Canada and Ontario holding several executive positions, starting as President of the Young Liberals . He was an enthusiastic volunteer and campaigner in Federal, Provincial & Municipal elections throughout the decades. Brian was also a Federal Appointee on local boards including Windsor Housing.
Brian could often be seen on his daily walk along the Detroit River as he was an active WRACE walker who won many awards across the County of Es while raising funds for many organizations.
We are grateful to Windsor Regional Hospital (Ouellette Campus) Emergency, 7 East & West, the Emara Centre Palliative Care nurses especially “Alex” and all the Doctors, Wasserman, Morgan(s), Meadows, Tremblay, Jervis & Kennett.
